“Unrecognized Database Format”
This is very common Access Database Error. This error may occur because of two possible reasons: -

In this case, you can resolve your problem by converting the Access database to a lower version, using the current version. After converting the database, you will be able to open your database with the older version. Microsoft provides inbuilt tool for that. You can perform this task by following these steps-
In the Tools menu, point to Database Utilities, click Convert Database, and then click to Prior Access Database Version.
2. This error may also occur if your database is damaged or corrupted. It may prevent the user from running the Repair and Compact Database option in Microsoft Access.
The resolution of this problem is if you have a proper backup of your database, then you can restore data from it. But in case, if your backup is not sufficient or if it also gets corrupted, then it can’t be repaired.
This is very worst situation for you when your backup is also lost or it is not updated. In this case, you can loss your important data stored in the database.
